Festival de magie de Québec

LAUNCH OF THE 2nd EDITION OF THE “MICHEL CAILLOUX” INTERNATIONAL MAGIC CONTEST!

Québec, April 9, 2014 –  For its 4th edition, the Festival de magie de Québec invites amateur and professional magicians of all ages to participate in the 2nd edition of the “Michel Cailloux” International Magic Contest and take a chance at winning prizes ranging from $500 to $2500, for a total of $5000. The aim of the contest is to showcase magic before a broader audience and allow magicians from around the world to present their acts in Québec City.

MICHEL CAILLOUX

The Festival de Magie team is proud to have the opportunity to honour Michel Cailloux for a second year. This legend in the world of magic, better known as Michel the Magician in the televised series “La Boîte à surprise” (1956 to 1971) and through his “perlimpinpin” powder” was instrumental in initiating the public at large to the art of magic and as a role model to several great magicians from Quebec.

MARC TRUDEL

The first winner of the “Michel Cailloux” grand prize in 2013, Marc Trudel, has agreed to accept the role of spokesperson for the 2014 contest. Marc Trudel is the Canadian champion. He has been presenting shows for more than 15 years and was the official magician of the Just for Laughs Museum. In addition to his regular customers, he has fascinated the public at the Just for Laughs Festival, the Montréal Jazz Festival and the Montréal High Lights Festival.

CONTEST PROCEDURE

To participate in the contest, magicians (aged 18 or older/under 18) must register online at http://www.festivaldemagie.ca before June 20, 2014, 5 p.m. The three categories open to adults are “stage magic,” “manipulation” and “close-up magic.”  The two categories open to magicians under 18 are “stage magic” and “close-up magic.” Participants must present a home video of a complete number lasting five to ten minutes in one or each of the categories.
